St. John's City Council has done a donut on the drive thru issue.
Council has unanimously voted to lift a moratorium on new drive thru's. Owners and managers of Tim Horton's filled part of the gallery at city hall last night, after meeting with the mayor and councillors. Mayor Dennis O'Keefe says franchise owners have convinced council that they are taking initiatives to reduce the amount of traffic spilling out into the street from drive thru windows.
While the moratorium is lifted, council will review each application to make sure traffic will not be interrupted by a drive thru. Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth says Tim Horton's is a great community corporation and have been trying for a while to resolve the problems.
