Reading Royals forward Ben Gordon has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL player of the month for December.

He is the first Royals player in the nine-year history of the franchise to receive an ECHL monthly award.

Gordon, a second-year pro, had six goals and 14 assists and played to a plus-9, tied for the league best, in the 10 games he played with the Royals in December.

He tied a team record with five points in a 7-3 win over Johnstown Dec. 16.

Gordon, who leads the team and is fourth in the league in scoring with 40 points, has been on loan to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL since Dec. 27.
